Starting out with lure fishing, I began like many people do buying from the local tackle shops. Paying upwards of $6 per lure, of which most initially ended up lost to snags and with no results. The extra money initially however was worth it, as the local fishing shop owners were able to give great advice on how to improve the use of spin lures and soft plastics, along with some other information which I wouldn’t have been able to get anywhere else at the time. After a few weeks...

Amongst all the gear required by a spearo, a spearfishing knife gets a lot of raised eyebrows. And even sometimes the size of a general purpose diving knife too gets a lot of sulk. However, the diving knives are actually awesome – huge knives have a special place in the diving world. How they are concerned with spearfishing is, however, a totally different issue.

Fishing is all about stealth. It requires a quiet approach. It can be almost impossible not to scare fish away when you arrive thundering in a fishing hole with your noisy gas-powered onboard motor spouting smoke and stirring water. Here trolling motors act like a real godsend for the fishing fraternity. They are electric and are much quieter than gas-powered motors. Not only anglers can have total control over their boat all the times, but they can also move comfortably from place to place and...

When you look around the baits created by master bait-builder Nathan Bettencourt, you will notice that these lures are distinct in both function as well as design. Nathan Bettencourt strives to create lures having triggering characteristics which are not found in lures created by other makers. Bettencourt has a background in both lure building and fly fishing, and so he can “tie” both of them together. Bettencourt Baits Dying Bluegill, for example, is a master creation and is one of the first...

Fly fishing is a kind of fishing which you may turn into an easy task or a difficult venture as per your wish. And even after getting years of experience in fly fishing, you will learn something new every time you set out for your expedition. The things needed for a successful trip are not many though. They are just some basic equipment. Contrary to this fact, newcomers are often bombarded with hoards of fly fishing gear, making them just bewildered about what to purchase exactly. Fortunately you...

If you are fond of fishing, that too of float fishing, you know how useful bobbers are. They can suspend the bait at a desired depth, they can carry the baited hook to unreachable areas of water by permitting the float to drift in the prevalent current due to their buoyancy and they also serve as bite indicators. Here we are talking about an amazing bobber brand – ShellBobbers or FishingAmmo which has been invented by Jeff and Dusty, who will be presenting their much admired product on the hit...

Whether it is Cancun, Florida or Texas, deep sea fishing is a great adventure to take up on your vacation. What is the difference between deep sea fishing and other types of fishing? Of course, it is taken up in deeper waters, with a depth of about 100 meters or more. For deep sea fishing you can book a charter or can go on your own. Many tourist areas offer such charters, e.g.  Galveston fishing charters, which offer you the most comfortable as well as an exciting deep sea fishing trip. The benefit...

Are you looking forward to your autumn Australian bass fishing? If you have been fishing Australian Bass in the summer, don’t worry, in autumn you will use pretty much the same techniques. As a matter of fact, Australian Bass fish are likely to be caught in the same summer hid outs during the fall, before they migrate downstream in order to spawn along the south-east Australian coast, in the estuaries.
