Lowrance Structure Scan™

For most of my adult life, fishing has been a great challenge. I have been fortunate enough to have witnessed the rapid progression of technology, but never have I been as impressed with technology as I am today.

I’ve long considered Lowrance’s GPS technology to be the cat’s meow, but folks, I must tell you their new Structure Scan™ technology has taken the on-board electronics to another level.

For many years I’ve tried to describe what is on the bottom to my guided trip clients, relying mainly on the depth finders and GPS technology. Now I can confirm my impressions because the bottom is so clear and well-defined by Structure Scan™. I am just amazed. At my age, I don’t know that many things wow me, but this has. Fishing for my clients has just taken another giant leap forward.

Structure Scan™ reveals bottom structure and cover not only directly under the boat but out from the boat in both directions. The high-definition image is so bright and well-defined that you almost think you’re looking at pictures of old gas cans sunk to the bottom, sunken logs and brush, stumps, boulders, and even, in some areas, sunken vehicles that have become underwater fish havens.

This technology benefits not only anglers. The detailed bottom and side-view capabilities that Lowrance provides enables emergency search and rescue teams to view the bottom during times of need, and it makes salvage operations much easier as well.

The amazing thing is you can adjust the view to one side or the other or both, change the number of feet in the view, or look at an image of the bottom directly under the boat. It also has a built-in tool that allows you to measure the width of a creek bottom or height of a tree and actually see the fish hanging on the structure you are viewing.

If you want to be wowed as I have been, come fish with me and let me show you this amazing technology. The problem is, after you view this, Structure Scan™ will jump to the top of your “must-have” list and you won’t be satisfied until one is installed on your boat!
